Margaret DePiore Neiheisel, MD FAAP

Dr. DePiore Neiheisel has over thirty years of experience caring for children at Night and Day Pediatrics. Born and raised in Ohio, she loves the warmth of the climate and people of the San Antonio area. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati in 1982 and received her Medical Degree from Wright State University in 1986. In 1989, she completed a residency in Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at St Louis University Hospitals.   

She chaired the Newborn Care Committee at Methodist Children's Hospital in San Antonio, for many years, and served on the Perinatal and Clinical Review Committees. These committees set protocols and standards to improve medical care for children. She has also participated in many volunteer medical mission trips to Central America in Guatemala and Belize.   

Dr. DePiore Neiheisel has been recognized as one of San Antonio's Top Pediatricians and one of America's Top Pediatricians by the Castle Connelly Group. She has also received several PREP Education Awards given by the American Academy of Pediatrics.   

In her free time, she competes in triathlons, plays tennis, practices yoga and meditation, reads, and spends time with friends and family including 3 grandchildren.

David Gutierrez, MD FAAP

Dr. David Gutierrez received his bachelor's in Biology from Boston University in 2002 and his Medical Degree from Texas A & M University in 2007. His pediatric training was completed at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in 2010. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and joined the practice in 2011. He has been recognized as a Texas Super Doctor by a national independent research corporation. Originally from San Diego, he now calls San Antonio home along with his wife and three children. Dr. Gutierrez speaks English and Spanish.

Sheri Sowa, CPNP-PC

Sheri Sowa is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who joined Night and Day Pediatrics in January of 2022.  

She has been a Nurse Practitioner since 2017.  Prior to that she had 20+ years of nursing experience - in hospitals, clinics and as an elementary school nurse.  

Although her nursing degrees are all from UT system schools (UT Houston, UTEP and UT Health Science Center San Antonio), she bleeds Aggie Maroon...she has a BS in Community Health from Texas A&M College Station and her two boys are also Aggies!  

In her spare time, Sheri enjoys gardening, yoga, playing with her nieces, and riding her bike (always with a helmet!).

Tere Penland, CPNP-PC

Tere Penland, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC was born in Guadalajara, Mexico but was raised here in San Antonio, TX. She is one of our Spanish speaking providers. Tere obtained her BSN from UT Health San Antonio and worked in a level IV NICU for 7 years before attending UT Arlington to obtain her MSN and become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Tere’s passion has always been caring for children in all stages of their lives as well as education. When she isn’t caring for children at Night and Day she is helping teach the new wave of nurses as a Clinical Instructor for both Pediatric and Maternal health courses at Galen College of Nursing.  

 

In her spare time, Tere enjoys spending time with her three young boys and husband, doing DIY projects and arts/crafts. She is very excited to be part of Night and Day Pediatrics and is proud to work with such a fantastic team of providers.

We believe that nurses play a very important role in the care of your children and we employ only trained professionals. All of our nurses and medical assistants have a professional license with years of experience in the care of children.
